Secrets Of Self Confidence

One of the problems that you may have right now in getting started or moving forward in your fitness and health goals is the fact that you may have no confidence that you can succeed.

Confidence is something that is built only from the inside. We have all met people that are very confident and many people that have no confidence.

Often I find that there is no reason for people in either group.

The best way to build confidence is to simply achieve simple goals and build upon them.

One Simple Step. One Little Goal

street hockey billWhen I say that you need to achieve a goal I don’t mean that you need to win an Olympic medal or anything, all you need to do is set a tiny goal, achieve it and move on.

The first time years ago that I rode my bicycle to work was a huge leap of faith at the time, I had not ridden a bike in years. After I rode to work and home that first time I knew that I could do it again, I learned that dressing and packing differently would make it easier and I was confident that I now had a new skill.

This is all that you need to build confidence. There is no secret to building confidence although everyone thinks that there is. People spend years and lots of dollars trying to find the secret to great self-confidence when all it really takes to be confident is to build little goals, achieve them and move on to slightly bigger goals.

Confidence in life is just an attitude. If you have ever heard the term “fake it till you make it” then you know that others will see you as you project back to them. If you are timid in your own life to others then you are probably speaking to your inner self the same way. If you project and talk to others in confidence, then you are probably using better self-talk.

Self Talk

The next step to having great confidence to achieve your dreams is to have good self-talk. Never say negative things if possible. You do not have to be one of those irritating people that sees everything as being great, all you need to do is avoid thinking of things negatively as much.

I talk a lot, in my head, as well as to other people, and often I will catch myself in a bit of a funk in the morning where nothing seems to be going smoothly.

One crappy thing builds on another and finally I will catch myself noticing the bad stuff going on and I snap myself back to just seeing things in a better light. I start by focusing on the good things that have happened so far in the day and just try to build on those.

This may sound corny and like some kind of new age voodoo but I have always found this to work.

So today, try to find the good in things, make sure you are building little goals and achieving them and make sure everything going on between your ears is helping you, not hurting you in the long run.

15 Life Saving Eating and Exercise Tips to Survive the Holiday Season

With the Holiday season starting now, I thought getting some eating and exercise tips to survive the holiday season would help everyone

The time between Thanksgiving and New Years is one in which we all indulge ourselves in over-abundance. Especially when it comes to food. Food has become a central part of our get together and parties around the holidays, so it is important that we remember to make smart food choices.

And this is something that is almost always easier said than done when you see some of the decadent food choices made available, made with love, by your friends and family.

In most cases, the majority of the party-going people, won’t be concerned with watching their, so they are less inclined to bring healthier versions of their best recipes. Then it becomes our own burden to stick with our diets or to watch what we eat as the food choices are always so tempting.

The following 15 holiday eating and exercise tips are here to help you when going to holiday parties to better watch yours by giving you some great ideas.

15 Eating and Exercise Tips To Survive The Holiday Season

thanksgiving-turkeyStop Eating When You Feel Full. This is something most people won’t, or don’t, do. Especially those that are in the ‘clean plate’ club and don’t like to leave extra or left over food on their plates. Honestly, there is absolutely no shame in leaving that extra portion of food on your plate.

When your tummy feels full, just push yourself away from the table and say “No More For Me Thanks”.

Take A Few Extra or Longer Walks. Walking is a terrific form of exercise, and can be a great cardiovascular workout in colder temperatures. Especially when there is a nice layer of snow on the ground.

Next time you go to let your dog out to do their bathroom ‘business’, why not slip on your coat and shoes, grab their leash and take them for a walk around the block, or down a few blocks. Fido will love you for it and you will be making yourself a healthier ‘you’ by doing it as well.

Don’t Count Calories Incessantly. This is unnecessary and will drive your loved ones crazy, and yourself too. Let’s face it, there are enough stressors around the Holidays to worry about. Gaining an extra few pounds should be the least of your troubles.

The best thing you can do if you are already dieting is to watch not what you eat, but how much of it you are eating instead of trying to keep track of your caloric intake. Unless of course you are on a strict diet and need to avoid things that contain higher carbohydrates, sugars, etc. In this case, you would obviously want to avoid eating things like potatoes, bread, cookies, candies, cakes, etc.

Use Reduced Fat, Sugar Substitutes, or Fat Free Ingredients in Your Recipes. Lots of people complain that fat-free or reduced fat ingredients change the flavor of their favorite recipes, and not in a good way. But, in all reality, there is barely a hint of difference in flavor.

In fact, if one did not have the knowledge that normal ingredients such as sour cream had been replaced with a fat-free or reduced fat substitute, you would never hear a peep about the taste. When replacing sugar such as pure cane sugar with a substitute such as Splenda, Equal, or the like, you may notice a taste difference. So, in this case, if you have picky family members, simply make two versions of the same dessert or snacks and let your family opt for their own choice.

Eat One Big Meal Instead Of Continuous Snacking Or Smaller Meals. Opinions will vary on this one, but whether you’re eating a bigger meal once, or several smaller meals throughout the day, the amount of food you are taking in is just about the same at any rate.

The difference in eating a big meal once is that you will be completely full, or have the full ‘feeling’ so you won’t be hungry as much. And DO NOT think you can have your 3 square meals a day and then add a couple of more to the mix. That will most definitely pack on the unwanted pounds. Remember to always eat in moderation and keep in mind the full feeling. When you are getting full, STOP EATING.

Thanksgiving DinnerKnow Your Eating Boundaries And Don’t Cross Them. This tip is especially important if you are already dieting or trying to lose weight. You know better than Aunt Betty what you can eat. Even though her home-made pound cake might taste wonderful, you may want to not opt for seconds if you are on a strict diet.

Many people like to splurge around the holiday season, but it’s all a matter of willpower really. If you just can’t help yourself and must have some of Uncle Fred’s ambrosia salad, then take a smaller than normal portion of it.

Go For The Healthy Food Choices. Almost every family unit has at least one ‘health nut’ within its midst. If there are healthy food choices available, then eat more of the plain fruits and vegetables instead of the pies cakes and cookies in the holiday ‘spread’.

Remember too that extra dips can help pack on the pounds. Don’t be afraid to ask what the dips are made from so you can make a more informed judgment on whether or not you can enjoy them. Also, you can always bring healthier food dips for fruits and veggies with you such as yogurt or reduced calorie veggie dips that are sold at most major grocery stores before the big get-together.

Eat In Moderation With Smaller Portions. As discussed earlier, take smaller portions of all those calorie packed goodies. This way, you can still partake of all the wonderful eats without packing on all the extra pounds that go along with all those goodies.

And remember too to balance out the bad foods, or those that are packed with sugars and carbohydrates, with good foods such as plain fruits and vegetables.

Drink In Moderation. No, this is not an advertisement for drinking and driving, even though you should always have a designated driver if you plan on drinking more than the legal limit, of course, or anything at all due to cold, icy, roads.

Rather, many holiday drinks during Thanksgiving or at Christmas parties, are packed with extra sugar, so watch how much of the good old egg nog you drink. This goes for either alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Water is always a great choice, or non-sweetened tea or coffee. There too, is also diet soda pop if you are a soda drinker.

Substitute Whole Grains In Lieu of Higher Carbohydrate Filled Grains. Try to steer clear of white bread, sugary cakes, potatoes, cookies, or anything else that you believe to have a high carbohydrate count. These can put a lot of on you quickly and is why many diets try to steer clear of these carb-laden monoliths.

Go for the whole wheat, multi-grain, sugar substitute holiday food choices. Sure, it’s not the same as loading up on all the ‘bad-for-you’ foods, but you’ll be glad you did when January rolls around.

christmas snackNo Eating After 7 p.m. This can be extremely difficult to do. Especially when most holiday get togethers happen after 7 o’clock. If this is the case, then you should eat before you go to the holiday bash. Most foods are not properly burned off if eaten after 7 o’clock p.m.

So, it’s best if you eat long before this time rolls around. However, you can eat something healthy such as fruits or vegetables minus the fatty dips if you really need to snack on something.

Drink More Liquids Than Eating. Drinking more liquids will fool your body into believing it is full. Therefore, you can drink lots of water, unsweetened tea or coffee, diet sodas, low-calorie fruit smoothies or soft drinks(non-carbonated), etc. without feeling the guilt of over eating.

Stay away from higher sweetened drinks as this will defeat the purpose of watching your weight.

Eat Something Before You Go Grocery Shopping. Actually, you should eat something before you do any shopping out of the house, or in-house for that matter, doing exercise that will burn calories.

But, the main reason for going grocery shopping on a full stomach is that you will be less inclined to purchase all those fattening junk foods because you are not hungry so you aren’t tempted by those types of food choices. You will be able to stay on track and only purchase those things you need from the grocery store instead of packing your cart with packing foods.

Plan An Out-Door Activity. Depending on the region you live it, whether the weather is warmer or colder, plan on doing something outdoors. This can be something you do by yourself, with family, or friends that doesn’t involve any eating.

Things like cutting down your own Christmas Tree, shopping for gifts, either last minute or not, walking through the park(you may want to do this with someone or a group of someones for safety reasons), going sledding, skiing, skating, playing some backyard football, collecting pine cones and creating some simple bird feeders with bird seed and peanut butter, and any other activities you can think up. Try to do one thing each week to replace a day of exercise or work out that you would normally do to keep things interesting and everyone in the holiday spirit.

No Healthy Food Choices? Bring Some Cutting up vegetables or fruits to create a holiday health tray can be a nice ‘change of pace’ for your friends or family. Why not try bringing some healthy holiday cheer at your next get together.

Chances are, someone else in your extended friends or family network are trying to watch their wastes too and would appreciate having a healthier-than-normal food choice. Even if that isn’t the case, you are still saving yourself tons of work out time later once all those extra caloric fatty foods are attaching themselves to your waistline.

Of course, there are always more things you can do to watch your year round. Try incorporating some of those things during the holidays as well since we all tend to eat a bit more and make less than savory choices to keep ourselves healthy, fit, and trim.

Take the ideas in the tips above and fit them into your lifestyle by changing them up a bit. Remember being healthy is a lifestyle in and of itself and should be practiced year round. It’s especially important not to slack off around the holiday season when most of the unhealthy food choices are abundant.

I do hope the eating and exercise tips listed above have helped you realize that you can watch your and still have a wonderful time at holiday gatherings between Thanksgiving, through Christmas, and New Years Eve without making a ‘Santa’s Helper’ out of yourself.

Exercise will boost kids self image

Exercise may fight off depression and improve self-esteem in over children, researchers here said.

But according to one key measure, white children seemed to benefit more from exercise than black youngsters, a difference the scientists found intriguing but not easily accounted for.

In a randomized trial, heavy kids who exercised for 40 minutes a day saw decreases in depressive symptoms and improvements in self-esteem compared with those who remained sedentary, Karen Petty, M.D., of the Medical College of Georgia, and colleagues reported online in the Journal of Pediatric Psychology.

Effects of childhood obesity

kidsChildhood obesity has been associated with many psychological problems, including low self-esteem and depression, but little is known about the effects of physical activity on feelings of self-worth.

So the researchers conducted a study of 207 over and sedentary children ages seven to 11 years.

They noted that the youngsters in the sample were not clinically depressed, with only 4% scoring above the cutoff for depression.

How much exercise do kids need?

The children were randomized to either 20 or 40 minutes of daily exercise, or told to continue their sedentary lifestyle. The exercises periods, which lasted for 13 weeks, included running, jump rope, basketball, and soccer.

The researchers found that the 40-minute exercise group sustained the greatest psychological benefit, with evidence of a dose-response relationship.

For depression, the 40-minute group had significantly lower scores than the control group. The 20-minute group also had lower depression scores than the control group, but the finding was not statistically significant.

The 40-minute group also had significantly better self-esteem scores than the control group. Once again, the 20-min group scored better than the controls, but not enough for statistical significance.

“The 40 min daily dose of aerobic exercise was clearly superior to the control condition for reducing depressive symptoms, increasing physical appearance self-worth,” the authors concluded.

Although the results suggest that 20 minutes of exercise might also help, further study is needed, the report said.

Race, Kids and self esteem

A multivariate analysis revealed that self-perception scores improved only for white children. Although exercise did not impact the general self-esteem of black children, it did improve their depressive symptom scores, the researchers said.

“The unexpected finding that exercise led to increased global self-worth only in whites calls for further study on the influence of race on psychosocial consequences of obesity and exercise,” they said.

Change kids now for their future

“However,” they said, “the effects of exercise on depressive symptoms may be important for prevention of clinical depression in later childhood and adolescence.”

The researchers said their findings may be limited by notions of self-worth that vary by culture. Also, because the 20-minute exercise period did not produce statistically significant results, they suggested further study to see if there’s an effective dose of exercise below 40 minutes.

Still, they concluded that the findings point to the need for exercise programs for all children in order to “reduce depressive symptoms and increase aspects of self-worth.”

Exercise As Power Source – Pick Up That Power!

This day and age it can be very difficult indeed to go to the gym. Life is very hectic and busy, which will create a serious challenge for remaining consistent with exercise each day.

Exercise is however, just what we all need to reduce stress, and give the body the extra energy it needs to carry out normal living.

The best results of exercise are achieved through the use of refined techniques, functional exercises, cardio, the right nutrition, variety, awareness, consistency, and motivation over a period of time.

Use Proper Form While Doing Exercise

Use Proper From While Doing Exercise

Use Proper From While Doing Exercise

The refined techniques mean correct form to isolate muscles or to target areas of the body.

Efficiency is need to ensure stimulation of the muscles. With lift training, which is also known as resistance training, you’ll need to eliminate any type of momentum.

It is also important to move the about using a full range of motion. Full range of motion causes the muscle to contract for the right amount of time and help to ensure the right length of the tendons.

The goal here is to strengthen the joints of your body by stimulating the muscles.

Cadence is also helpful, as it is a term that refers to the rate in which the resistance or the moves. The best results with cadence are gained by slow movements which will cause the muscle to contract for a longer period of time. You can mix in a series of fast and slow cadence, which is very beneficial with sports type training.

Using the correct angles will achieve muscle isolation in target areas and help to decrease the risk of injuries, which is great for those using heavy weights.

Doing Functional Exercise Helps

Functional type exercise is a popular technique that will stimulate the core and torso of your body while you work on another muscle group at the same time. As an example, when you perform a dumbell press while lying on an exercise ball.

group exercise

Your abdominal muscles and the core muscles will contract to hold your body into this position, while your chest and tricep muscles will push the dumbells up. This type of exercise and challenge will cause maximum stimulation to your body and keep the workout interesting and refreshing.

Cardio is another exercise that is great for the heart and lungs. The total number of calories you burn is very important along with maintaining the right heart rate.

The formula for your heart rate is 220 minus your age times 60 for the lower number, then 220 minus you age and times 80 for the upper number.

This is also known as fat burning zone. Cardio will also de-toxify the body and help to strengthen the immune system along with other benefits.

The muscles will contract and pass the lymph along, which will allow the immune system to clear away dead cells and bring new ones in.

Be Sure to Warm Up Before Exercise

Anytime you exercise, warming up is very important, as it will prepare your body for the more demanding workout of cardio.

You should always allow 15 – 30 minutes prior to lifting and 10 – 15 minutes prior to cardio exercises. You should also stretch as well, as this will help get the blood flowing through your musles and get them limber as well.

An ideal schedule for working out is to warm up then follow with cardio. You canlift weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday then cardio only on Tuesday and Thursday.

Even though you may think your schedule is simply too busy to maintain a schedule for working out, you’ll find that adding exercise will actually add more time, as you’ll have a lot more energy in your normal everyday life.

You can think of exercise as the batteries that will help to give your life power.

Mayo Clinic lists 8 reasons to do 30 minutes of exercise

Moderately strenuous exercise, about 30 minutes a day, can lead to enormous benefits in terms of your mood, health, and the ability to live an independent and fulfilling life.

The exercise doesn’t need to be athletic or difficult. Studies have shown that simply walking at a brisk pace for 30 minutes or more on most days can lead to significant health improvements.

Add simple strengthening exercises two or three times a week and the benefits are even greater.

The Mayo Clinic Health Letter lists some of the benefits of 30 minutes of exercise a day:

Reasons For 30 Minutes Exercise Per Day

time-exerciseLower blood pressure: A reduction of 5 to 10 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) is possible. In some cases, that’s enough to prevent or reduce the need for blood pressure medications.

Improve cholesterol: Exercise often increases the concentration of high-density lipoprotein (HDL or “good” cholesterol in the blood), especially when accompanied by loss. Exercise also helps reduce triglyceride levels.

Prevent or manage type 2 diabetes: Exercise helps insulin work better, lowering blood sugar.

Manage Weight: Coupling exercise with a healthy diet is the best way to shed fat and maintain a healthier body composition.

Prevent osteoporosis: Exercise may increase bone density and protect against bone mass decline, especially if -bearing activities are involved.

Prevent cancer: Exercise has been shown to strengthen the immune system, improve circulation, reduce body fat and speed digestion. Each has a role in preventing cancer, particularly cancers of the colon, prostate, uterine lining and breast.

Maintain mental well-being: Exercise may help reduce stress, improve mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety, improve sleep and boost moods.

Increase energy and stamina: A lack of energy often results from inactivity, not age.

Arthritis In Spine Explained

There are many types of arthritis and most of them can cause arthritis in spine joints just as they can affect other joints of the body such as the hips, knees and shoulders.

Usually it is the joints of the lower back that are affected, and in fact arthritis in its various forms is one of the most common causes of lower back pain.

What is Arthritis In Spine?

Many people who have arthritis in spine joints already have another spinal disease or condition such as degenerative disc disease or spinal stenosis. These conditions place an extra burden on the joints of the spine which can lead to damage and the pain of arthritis.

Arthritis In Spine

Arthritis In Spine Treatment

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting many people as they grow older. About 1 in 10 people over 65 will be disabled due to osteoarthritis, although most of these cases refer to knees and hips which can often be restored to mobility through surgery.

Symptoms of osteoarthritis in the spine include stiffness and pain in the neck and/or lower back.

A problem in the neck may be accompanied by weakness or numbness in the arms; arthritis in spine lower down can produce the same weakness or numbness in the legs.

Arthritis In Spine – Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune disease in which the joints become inflamed and painful. As with other auto immune diseases, the cause is not known but there may be a genetic factor.

Women are three times more likely to be affected than men. Unlike other forms of arthritis it is more likely to affect the upper spine, especially the joints of the neck, along with feet and hands.

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that involves the spine. Again this is an auto immune disease but it affects the spine more than other joints.

Unlike rheumatoid arthritis it affects men more often than women, and usually begins before the age of 40. There is back pain and stiffness, sometimes affecting the whole spine, along with general fatigue. In many cases there is also inflammation of the eyes. The pain may be relieved by movement, worse when resting.

Treatment is based on physical therapy, careful exercise and pain relief.

Arthritis In Spine – Treatment

If you suffer from arthritis in spine areas the first thing to do is to consider your sleeping arrangements. A new, firm mattress can make a lot of difference, as can switching to a special pillow if the problem is in the neck or upper back. Heat treatments may help.

Your doctor may also suggest exercises that you can do to strengthen the spine or maintain as much freedom of movement as possible. He or she can prescribe pain medication that is suitable for you. So be sure to keep in contact with your doctor regarding your arthritis in spine and let him or her know when you notice any changes.

back pain remedy This is your opportunity to learn the “world-class” Back Pain relief secrets that only a handful of lucky people even knew existed a short time ago…including the “super-advanced” skill, know-how and techniques. It is called the Miracle Back Pain Cure.

In some cases, surgery may be recommended. This is very much an individual matter that will be decided case by case. Spinal surgery is not undertaken lightly, but it can be helpful, especially where the arthritis in spine is accompanied by other problems that may respond to surgical procedures.

How To Build Huge Pecs – The Critical Steps

Your chest workout is probably one of your favorites. As you get stronger your chest starts to fill out and your upper body begins to get a “V” shape to it which is helpful in making your midsection look tighter and your waist look thinner.

So now that you know why you want to Build huge pecs and you probably already knew this. The next question is how do you Build huge pecs?

OK there are a few things that you need to know. To build up your chest you need to have a very focused workout for your chest.

Here are those keys to build huge pecs

Build Huge Pecs

Build Huge Pecs

Lift big to get big – This means that you need to train with heavyweights to get stronger. As you get a bigger bench press you will get a bigger chest.

Keep your muscles confused – Your muscles are very good at getting used to the exercises that you do.

What you need to do is keep your muscles confused by changing the number of reps, changing the number of sets, and especially changing your exercises frequently. Confused muscles grow much more quickly.

Eat lots of protein – Protein is the biggest building block of your muscle mass besides water.

As you lose fat you will as a byproduct lose some muscle mass unless you are eating a lot of protein. At the same time please remember that your body can not metabolize more then 30 grams of protein per meal.

Eat lots – Eating a lot of food is important to building a bigger chest. You are going to have to gain some fat in the process.

You need lots of carbs as well as the protein as stated above. Try to keep the fat down though. Also you are going to get a faster metabolism by eating a lot and a faster metabolism will allow your body to grow faster.

Drink a lot of water – As you eat more protein your body will need to take in a lot of water to process the protein. Another reason that water is critical is because if you are not drinking enough water then you body will not be able to grow.

So what kind of workout do you need to do to build huge pecs? It is probably not what you think.

Your Chest workout will need to have a total of 6 sets. When I say six sets you are probably thinking of the last time that you read a Muscle and Fitness chest workout and how you should do 12 to 20 sets for your chest. Well unless you are doing a lot of anabolic steroids you are not going to be able to recover from a giant workout for building strong chest.

Here is the best workout to build huge pecs

Warmup on a treadmill or elliptical or bike for 10 minutes or so to raise you core temperature. You do not want do too much cardio as this will burn the calories that you want to have available for your workouts.

Now that you are warmed up stretch your chest by doing a set of flyes by stretching it as much as you can with a really light .

Now you can get into the big weights.

2 sets of Flyes – Use negatives and or assistance and even stripweights to do each set of about 8 reps completely to exhaustion.

2 sets of Cable crossovers – The same as above, these sets should go to exhaustion.

2 sets of Flat bench presses – This is the last sets and is a bit backwards from what you are used to. At this point your workout is going to be coming to an end. Your chest will be wiped out and you will get some great sets of bench in but your chest will be completely burned.

build muscleThis workout should take place twice a week. You have to give at least a couple of days or even three or four days in between.

Most people overtrain their muscles fairly soon after getting started doing weights and never recover. Watch as you are working out over time that you are getting stronger. If you are not getting stronger then you are going to have to take more time off between workouts.

So what do you think? Is this going to be attainable by you? Are you going to be able to make these changes?

I find that people will go a year without good gains sometimes because their workouts are stagnating, they are overtraining and this way that I have stated will shock their muscles into changes.

At the same time people are willing to overtrain by doing pretty hard sets and far too many of them when a few really heavy sets are what really builds strength and muscle.

If you are interested in Build huge pecs then doing this workout and eating program will definitely help you grow quickly.

Borderline Diabetes Symptoms

Borderline diabetes symptoms are easy enough to see and are a definite warning sign to go to the doctor. Diabetes is a chronic disease wherein blood sugar levels are elevated. This can happen when the body does not produce sufficient insulin, or if cells in the body do not respond to insulin.

If you have not been officially diagnosed with diabetes but your blood sugar levels are chronically slightly high, you may have pre-diabetes or borderline diabetes. Pre-diabetes or borderline diabetes is cause for concern. If you are experiencing any of the borderline diabetes symptoms listed below, it’s best to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Symptoms of Borderline Diabetes

  • Frequent need to urinate. Frequent urination, especially at night, can be a borderline diabetes symptom.
  • Constant fatigue. If you feel constantly tired all day, you may have pre-diabetes.
  • Constantly being thirsty. One of the common borderline diabetes symptoms is excessive thirst, even after drinking plenty of water.
  • Unexplained Weight loss. If you are losing weight without any change in your diet or lifestyle, you may be experiencing one of the main symptoms of borderline diabetes.
  • Slow healing of wounds. Abnormally elevated blood sugar levels can impair the immune system. If wounds or scratches heal slowly, you may be displaying a borderline diabetes symptom. Frequent infections of the urinary bladder, skin, or gums and vaginal yeast infections in women are also symptoms of borderline diabetes.

Borderline Diabetes Symptoms Diagnosing

Borderline Diabetes Symptoms

Borderline Diabetes Symptoms

If you suspect that you have diabetes or borderline diabetes because of the symptoms you have, consult a doctor as soon as possible. A simple test for blood sugar levels will show if you have pre-diabetes, which is the proper medical term for borderline diabetes.

Individuals with fasting blood sugar level of 100-125 mg/dL and 140-199 mg/dL for postprandial blood glucose may manifest borderline diabetes.

Borderline diabetes may be diabetes in its early stages and should be considered a cause for concern. Failure to obtain the right diagnosis and treatment can lead to damage to the nerves, cardiovascular system, kidneys, and vision.

It is estimated that over 79 million people in the USA suffer from pre-diabetes.

What to Do about Borderline Diabetes Symptoms

If you are diagnosed with pre-diabetes, your doctor will probably advise you to make lifestyle changes to stop diabetes in its tracks. Diabetes is often caused by lack of exercise, being overweight, a diet high in carbohydrates, and a family history of diabetes.

Regular exercise and a healthy diet can help prevent pre-diabetes from getting worse.

People with borderline diabetes symptoms should not self-diagnose or self-medicate. Only a doctor can tell you if you do have pre-diabetes, and prescribe the right treatment for your condition.

2. Prepare for the morning the evening before. Set the breakfast table, make lunches, put out the clothes you plan to wear, etc.

3. Don’t rely on your memory. Write down appointment times, when to pick up the laundry, when library books are due, etc. (“The palest ink is better than the most retentive memory.” – Old Chinese Proverb)

4. Do nothing which, after being done, leads you to tell a lie.

5. Make duplicates of all keys. Bury a house key in a secret spot in the garden and carry a duplicate car key in your wallet, apart from your key ring.

6. Practice preventive maintenance. Your car, appliances, home, and relationships will be less likely to break down/fall apart “at the worst possible moment.”

7. Be prepared to wait. A paperback can make a wait in a post office line almost pleasant.

8. Procrastination is stressful. Whatever you want to do tomorrow, do today; whatever you want to do today, do it now.

9. Plan ahead. Don’t let the gas tank get below one-quarter full; keep a well-stocked “emergency shelf” of home staples; don’t wait until you’re down to your last bus token or postage stamp to buy more; etc.

10. Don’t put up with something that doesn’t work right. If your alarm clock, wallet, shoe laces, windshield wipers ‘ whatever ‘ are a constant aggravation, get them fixed or get new ones.

11. Allow 15 minutes of extra time to get to appointments. Plan to arrive at an airport one hour before domestic departures.

12. Eliminate (or restrict) the amount of caffeine in your diet.

13. Always set up contingency plans, “just in case.” (“If for some reason either of us is delayed, here’s what we’ll do'” kind of thing. Or, “If we get split up in the shopping center, here’s where we’ll meet.”)

14. Relax your standards. The world will not end if the grass doesn’t get mowed this weekend.

15. Pollyanna-Power! For every one thing that goes wrong, there are probably 10 or 50 or 100 blessings. Count ’em!

16. Ask questions. Taking a few moments to repeat back directions, what someone expects of you, etc., can save hours. (The old “the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get,” idea.)

17. Say “No!” Saying “no” to extra projects, social activities, and invitations you know you don’t have the time or energy for takes practice, self-respect, and a belief that everyone, every day, needs quiet time to relax and be alone.

18. Unplug your phone. Want to take a long bath, meditate, sleep, or read without interruption’ Drum up the courage to temporarily disconnect. (The possibility of there being a terrible emergency in the next hour or so is almost nil.) Or use an answering machine.

19. Turn “needs” into preferences. Our basic physical needs translate into food, water, and keeping warm. Everything else is a preference. Don’t get attached to preferences.

20. Simplify, simplify, simplify’

21. Make friends with non-worriers. Nothing can get you into the habit of worrying faster than associating with chronic worrywarts.

22. Get up and stretch periodically if your job requires that you sit for extended periods.

23. Wear earplugs. If you need to find quiet at home, pop in some earplugs.

24. Get enough sleep. If necessary, use an alarm clock to remind you to go to bed.

25. Create order out of chaos. Organize your home and workspace so that you always know exactly where things are. Put things away where they belong and you won’t have to go through the stress of losing things.

You can see from this list that most of the items are just a matter of giving yourself more time or not self-creating stresses. Don’t you think that living a life of less stress would be a great thing for you as well?

Best Tips To Lose Weight Found By Accident

Finding best tips to lose weight is not difficult. In fact there are so many tips, so much advice, that it can be hard to find a consistent way forward. One of the best tips I ever came across was something I found by accident, and it works a treat.

Best Tip Comes By Accident

First, remember that old fashioned advice comes in many forms and some of them are little gems, using smaller plates for example. How about eating more slowly? Plus of course there is the evergreen of watching how many calories you eat.

shoulder dumbell pressSure you have heard best tips to lose before but the reason they have stuck around for so long may be simply because they work. You can use any or all of them on a long term basis, and all of them allow you to keep on eating the same types of food you ate before.

Exercise is sure to be included in any great fitness list. The more exercise you do, the more calories you burn, but you need to be careful which type of exercise you do. If you build too much muscle without getting rid of the fat, the muscle may develop *under* the fat, which will not get you the body shape that you want.

There are two types of exercise that you can do and surprisingly maybe the best tip is to do weights hard so that you have lots of muscle to burn your calories. Also there is cardio, moving at any time is a great way to lose weight

In my case it was when I took up running, I found a plan which included a lot of walking, because it’s less jarring on the body.

Running may cause injury to joints that aren’t used to it, so in fact the simplest exercise can often be the best. Walking still burns a high amount of calories. So why not include it in your daily schedule?

Walking for Half and Hour

A simple half hour walk, at a pace which doesn’t leave you panting, may burn a couple of hundred calories, which is great. What I discovered though, was that it helps if you think of those calories in terms of actual food that you might be tempted to eat.

For example, I knew the walking was burning about 200 calories, and I also knew that a chocolate bar would add all those calories right back on, plus maybe a few more. It changed my mental outlook hugely, and of all the tips to lose , this one has stuck.

To develop the point, it meant that if I ate the chocolate bar, I knew I would have to do another half hour walk to ‘pay’ for it, or from another angle it was wasting a half hour walk I had already done.

It meant that I was now viewing the chocolate as something that spoilt my hard work, so I was less inclined to eat it. Yes, I still eat chocolate occasionally, and love it, but even now I view each bar as a big pile of calories that needs to be accounted for.

I found that concept by accident after taking action with short walks, just going to show that reading tips to lose is nothing like as effective as actually acting on them.

So remember if your are looking for the best tips to lose they maybe just the thoughts in your head.
