Weight Watchers Protein Levels

On Weight Watchers the most important things are:
  • The amount of food eaten
  • The amount of fat eaten
  • The amount of fiber eaten

This is of course with your core points. There are other very important parts of your weight watchers diet and these are total servings of fruits and vegetables, lots of water and the flex points that you are eating.

One thing that is not taken too seriously in Weight Watchers is the amount of protein that you are eating on a daily basis. A point of rice is the same good as a point of steak realistically.

I have written before in here as well as other places that even though I am definitely not a fan of the Atkins diet I do believe that people generally eat far to little protein and far too much carbohydrates. Protein is far harder for your body to store as glycogen or fat as protein is and in the end this is important because any exercise that you do will have to later be counteracted by replacing that glycogen in your bloodstream.

The best way for you to have a bit more of a protein rich diet is to try to cut back on your number of points that are eating with the classic carbohydrate foods such as Potatoes, bread and rice and in their place try to add more beans and tuna as well as some other fish or lean meat such as chicken and some kinds of steak.

What you will find as you increase your protein intake is that you will get a fuller feeling more quickly and you may have a slight and I like to stress just a slight decrease in energy until your body adjusts to this new way of eating.

One of the problems with the Atkins diet is that the diet tries to take out all fruits and vegetables for the first while and then restricting them later. This is the opposite of a vegetarian diet which stresses only fruits and vegetables. I feel that it is healthy to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and at the same time make sure that you are getting more protein and at the same time occasionally have a potato or rice but really cut these back as much as possible.

Good luck with this new style of eating. By following your Weight Watchers diet and just replacing some of your carbohydrates with a little more protein I believe that you will find your losses are more consistent and you will feel a lot better in the long run.
